Give me your money!!

The "online begging" is getting worse. I was strolling through personal blogs yesterday, and the amount of "support this blog" I have seen is uncountable. They don't have any helpful or creative content on their website but have the donation link. Most of their content is like mine, writing random words and journaling. And they want money for that? What kind of people even donating their money to them? You can say that they may be asking donations to cover the operating costs. But who is forcing them to make a personal blog in the first place. If they have decided to make a personal blog, then they should use their own money, or the better option is to use free hosting options like Neocities, GitHub pages, etc. I have a conspiracy theory, these websites are a tool for money laundering, or the people have just lost the plot. I'll never give my money to these type of blogs as there is nothing of value on those sites.

Art I made for my Redbubble shop

Image
I was inactive on Redbubble for 3 years, so I decided to add some fresh sticker designs to my shop. All these designs are made by me in Adobe Photoshop. These designs are inspired from discord banners that I used to make for my friend's gaming community. My favourites are Arch BTW and Debian Linux.

Internet Addiction

Spending too much time online and consuming mediocre content has messed up my brain. I have an internet addiction, which has started showing its effect on me. I don't have any social media accounts for four years now, but I am addicted to YouTube. I know many people who don't consider YouTube as a social media site; according to me, it is one. I identified this problem when I couldn't hold attention to read 10 pages of a book. My thoughts were wandering here and there during reading; I couldn't even complete a page attentively. My creativity has also decreased; now I can't think of good words to express myself. The modern slang words have taken hold of my vocabulary.  I have replaced YouTube videos with one good movie a week. I am introducing myself to high quality content in moderation, of course. I have also started reading daily, currently I am reading "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells. I am almost finish reading this book; it was catching dust on my tab...

I have shifted to the defaults

There was a time when I used to have a custom Arch plus DWM installation on my PC, and a custom ROM for my android phone, but after running that setup for solid 2 years, I am back to the default operating system of my devices. Now, I run Windows 10 LTSC IOT on my laptop and One UI on my mobile.  In COVID time, YouTube algorithm introduced me to the Linux/FOSS/Privacy advocates. It is a great movement which actively highlights the problem with the new anti-privacy laws and products. I still believe in the philosophy, but I don't practice it nowadays. My reason for not practicing that philosophy anymore is, the alternatives are not the alternative. Meaning, you can't replace Windows 10 with Linux on your desktop if you need Adobe or MS Office. The software compatibility with Linux is very less. And there is not only software compatibility issues but hardware issues too. I can't use some functional physical keys of my keyboard on Linux (Linux Mint) and, I have a Lenovo laptop ...

My new blog backup setup

I was reading a Reddit post that how Google has started deleting the dead/old blogs randomly from the blogger. My blog is not old -- it is not even 1 month old yet, but still I don't want to lose my content in the purge. Because of this, I have decided to make a simple blog backup system using Obsidian. Blogger gives you the option to take out your backup in the XML format, but I want to backup my data in a more readable format. Why and What is Obsidian Obsidian is a note-taking app like the famous app called Notion. I chose Obsidian because unlike Notion I can use Obsidian without internet and it stores my files locally on my desktop, so I don't have to worry about internet outages and I live in the area where it is common. You can't sync your notes across different devices on free tier but you can purchase sync feature for $4/month. I have been using Obsidian without sync for a year now and it is the best note taking app I have ever used. How does my setup works I write m...

I will not order anything from e-commerce websites

This is a rant post. I have decided to not buy or order anything from online websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, Blinkit etc. These services are not meant for convenience anymore, these websites have started charging convenience charges if you order something from them. I can let the convenience charges pass, but charging extra money for Cash On Delivery option is not good and, these charges changes according to the order's cost. One more ridiculous charge is the handling fee; they're charging Rs 100-200 as a handling fee and when the package arrives, the packaging isn't even that great.  Yesterday, I purchased a soundbar from Flipkart. It came without the Flipkart carton box, they charged all kinds of fees at the time of order checkout like a "super secure" fee, handling fee, breathing fee but still the package came without any carton box. So if they're not going to pack my package properly, than why are they charging these ridiculous fees? I tested the s...
